About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers a paid internship program for students pursuing careers in heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain hands-on experience in our shop, working on machinery used in the agriculture, construction, and mining industries. This role focuses on skill development through mentorship and direct involvement in shop operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines and equipment.
- Learn to address customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop practical mechanical skills in a shop environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine mechanics, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- A solid academic record and positive recommendations from instructors.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- A team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 60 lbs and performing repetitive tasks like bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, as this is a safety-sensitive position.

- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
- Status: Full-time, rolling term.
