About the role#
York Space Systems is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to help build software that interacts with spacecraft hardware. This role involves working alongside Flight Software and Integration engineers to command, monitor, and validate space vehicles. You will work with embedded Linux systems, spacecraft interfaces, and automated test environments. This is a hands-on position where you will write code, run it against hardware, and debug the results.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test software for spacecraft flight systems, vehicle integration, and automated testing.
- Write code in Python, C, C++, or Bash that interacts with embedded systems and spacecraft hardware.
- Build tools to command, monitor, and configure spacecraft subsystems.
- Participate in Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop development and testing.
- Connect software to hardware interfaces, networks, and telemetry streams.
- Debug failures using logs, telemetry, command-line tools, and test equipment.
- Develop automated tests to verify spacecraft functionality.
- Work with systems, electrical, and test engineers to turn requirements into working solutions.
What you'll need#
- Experience developing software for embedded systems.
- Experience with C or C++ on Linux.
- Experience debugging software that communicates with physical devices.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

- This is an on-site internship located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
- The position is full-time and paid.
