About the role#
The DER Interconnection Engineering Intern supports our team in evaluating and processing Distributed Energy Resource applications. These resources include solar, storage, and hybrid systems connecting to the distribution grid. You will work alongside engineers to manage application queues and maintain technical documentation.
What you'll do#
- Review incoming applications to ensure they meet minimum requirements.
- Track down technical information for consultant engineers supporting our internal team.
- Help manage applications through our queue systems.
- Assist in drafting materials for stakeholders, including FAQs and tariff documents.
- Support the development or updates of process guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and completed coursework in power systems.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Location & details#
- Locations: St Paul, MN; Denver, CO; or Lubbock, TX.
- Term: Summer 2027, starting May 31, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment type: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week during the summer).
- Compensation: $23.10 to $24.60 per hour.
