About the role#
Xcel Energy is seeking a student to join the Converged Infrastructure team in Denver, Colorado. This paid internship provides hands-on experience with enterprise IT infrastructure, including compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies. You will work with engineers and architects to support systems that power critical business applications. This role focuses on the regulatory OT environment, offering exposure to infrastructure automation, systems integration, and hardware support.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and maintain converged infrastructure systems, including storage, compute, and virtualization.
- Support automation efforts by using scripting tools like Python and PowerShell.
- Participate in hardware lifecycle management, such as provisioning, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Work with NERC CIP Reliability Standards within the OT environment.
- Document system configurations, processes, and best practices.
- Contribute to capacity planning and performance analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Ability to commute to the Denver corporate office.
- Availability to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.

- Compensation: $17.40 to $22.10 per hour.
