About the role#
The Enterprise AI Enablement team creates AI tools to improve productivity and business processes at Xcel Energy. This internship offers exposure to enterprise AI technologies, Microsoft Copilot, business process automation, and solution delivery. You will work with a team to support AI development, testing, and analytics. This position begins May 24, 2027, and may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development and testing of AI-powered solutions and agents.
- Support automation and workflow improvement initiatives.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Document solution requirements, designs, and user guidance.
- Participate in solution demonstrations and stakeholder meetings.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of existing AI tools and applications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Analytics.
- Ability to work full-time (up to 40 hours) during the summer and part-time (up to 20 hours) during the school year.
- Ability to commute to the office in-person.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power Platform, or similar technologies.
- Experience using AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.
- Familiarity with automation, APIs, or low-code platforms.
- Basic programming or scripting experience.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 tools and building technical projects or websites.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.

- Compensation: $20.90 to $22.10 per hour.
