About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in our Portland, Oregon office. You will join our Power and Energy team for a 12-week program starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff and gain exposure to utility distribution design projects while participating in our Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of distribution design.
- Work under the supervision of experienced engineers on utility distribution projects.
- Assist senior engineers with consulting services for various electric utility clients, including municipalities, public utility districts, and investor-owned utilities.
- Support the creation of construction drawings, equipment sizing, and material specifications for medium voltage systems.
- Complete assigned training and exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in consulting engineering or the electric utility industry.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to follow company health and conduct policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
