About the role#
Hatch is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Project Delivery Group in Pittsburgh. You will support our teams by working on complex projects and gaining practical experience in an office environment. This position provides opportunities to learn from industry professionals through formal and informal mentorship. We value in-person interaction and collaboration, so this is an on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Assist Electrical Engineers with calculations like load flow and short circuit analysis.
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and construction contracts.
- Write reports for power system studies including arc flash analysis, protective device coordination, and transient stability studies.
- Learn about power distribution, instrumentation and controls, switchgear, stand-by power systems, SCADA, telemetry, and lighting systems.
- Support the preparation of detailed designs and drawings based on project specifications.
- Coordinate with technicians and engineers on various projects.
- Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers.
- Gain on-site practical experience and complete assignments related to your specific sector.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or chemical engineering.
- An interest in controls or computer science.
- A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams and understand inter-discipline requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to engineering excellence and safety.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
- A desire to learn and develop professionally.
- Previous co-op or internship experience is an asset.
