About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern for our Austin office during the summer of 2027. This 12-week program allows you to work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills. You will participate in the WSP Summer Internship Program, which includes access to mentorship and networking through our Developing Professionals Network. Please note that this position does not provide relocation or housing assistance.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to develop your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct and company policies regarding resources and safety.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Master's, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Interest in roadway design and transportation projects.
- Ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Experience with Open Roads Designer is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
