About the role#
The Security Intern joins the Information Security team to help solve security issues, develop tools, and test web applications. You will work with internal stakeholders to make recommendations on security controls and help protect our platform. This position is open for Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Provide Incident Response support when an actionable incident is confirmed.
- Document, investigate, and report on information security issues and emerging trends.
- Manage and configure tools and devices to expand our security monitoring infrastructure.
- Develop tools to assist with security and compliance tasks.
- Assist with continual vulnerability testing of web applications to identify weaknesses.
- Research potential security controls to fix active vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with teams to create remediation strategies and timelines.
- Develop queries and visualizations to help with security and compliance tasks.
- Analyze and trend security log data from various devices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems.
- Basic competency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, SQL, Go, or Dart.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools or penetration testing techniques.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google App Engine (GAE).
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- The role is primarily remote, with the option for hybrid work if you are located near an office hub.
- We do not provide sponsorship for this position.
