About the role#
Woolpert is hiring for a full-time Field Survey Internship for Summer 2027. You will work on a survey field crew and with project teams to support infrastructure, transportation, aviation, and utility projects. This role involves both field and office operations, providing hands-on experience in collecting, processing, and analyzing survey data.
What you'll do#
- Join a survey field crew to assist licensed surveyors and geospatial professionals with data collection.
- Operate surveying technology including GNSS/GPS receivers, robotic total stations, digital levels, terrestrial laser scanners, and UAV equipment.
- Conduct topographic, boundary, utility, construction, and control surveys.
- Set up photo control points and ground control for aerial mapping and remote sensing.
- Organize and process survey data using industry-standard software.
- Help develop maps, plats, reports, and other survey deliverables.
- Follow safety procedures and build professional communication and problem-solving skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field.
- Familiarity with surveying principles, field procedures, and coordinate systems.
- Exposure to GNSS/GPS equipment, total stations, laser scanning, or UAV technologies.
- Experience with software such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation/OpenRoads, or ArcGIS.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
