About the role#
Woolpert is hiring a Water Civil Design Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Katy, Texas. This is a full-time, paid internship where you will work alongside licensed engineers on infrastructure projects. You will gain experience by contributing to real-world design tasks and supporting our project teams. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
What you'll do#
- Work with the Civil design team on drainage improvements, including channel, detention basin, and storm sewer design.
- Assist with site development and water distribution projects.
- Perform engineering calculations, prepare cost estimates, and develop design plans.
- Use software tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Google Earth, and ArcPro.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external subconsultants, and clients.
- Conduct site visits to see projects in progress.
- Solve problems and complete tasks with a high degree of independence.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
- An interest in water-related infrastructure design.
- Intent to pursue an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification upon graduation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.

- Term: Summer 2027 (May/June through August).
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
