About the role#
This internship provides experience in aviation and airfield infrastructure projects. You will work alongside licensed professionals to support all phases of airport design and construction. This role covers planning, analysis, and on-site fieldwork under the guidance of Professional Engineers.
What you'll do#
- Develop airfield design documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Perform engineering calculations, design analyses, and prepare technical reports.
- Contribute to construction documents, cost estimates, and FAA-compliant designs.
- Participate in field visits and inspections to observe construction and verify quality.
- Support planning for runways, taxiways, and airport infrastructure.
- Analyze data and identify discrepancies in results.
- Maintain project documentation according to FAA and municipal standards.
- Assist in quality control and resolve technical issues during design or construction.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet project scope and budget.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field staff.
- Ability to conduct site visits and interact with clients and contractors.
