About the role#
This internship offers full-time, real-world project experience within the Energy team. You will work alongside licensed engineers on projects ranging from new electrical substations to underground transmission duct banks. This position is based in Columbus, Ohio, and runs during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with station civil tasks including site design, stormwater management, grading, surveying, and cost estimation.
- Work on underground transmission tasks such as duct bank routing and utility conflict management.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external subconsultants, and clients.
- Manage permitting and plan production for energy infrastructure projects.
- Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence while working across multiple disciplines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
- Pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering.
- A general interest in site civil design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation is preferred.
