About the role#
Winland Foods is seeking a Product Development Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, paid internship is based in Oak Brook, Illinois, and operates on a hybrid schedule. You will work in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. This role focuses on applying food science principles to support research, development, and innovation projects.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teams and work independently on assigned projects.
- Develop new product concepts and prototypes.
- Lead cost savings initiatives, including quality improvements and material substitutions.
- Test new ingredients to improve product functionality and performance.
- Present your findings and project results to the R&D Leadership Team and cross-functional partners.
- Gain exposure to manufacturing equipment and understand how process conditions impact product outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Biology, Chemical Engineering, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or Marketing.
- Ability to apply food science principles to project objectives.
- Understanding of how ingredients function within a formula.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
- Interest in working with industry experts to develop professional skills.

- Location: Oak Brook, Illinois.
- Term: May to August 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid (in-office Tuesday-Thursday).
- Compensation: $27.50 per hour plus a one-time lump sum payment for expenses.
