About the role#
The WBD Academic Year (WAY) Internship Program is a six-month opportunity designed for rising seniors to gain professional experience within CNN news production. This program runs from October 12, 2026, to April 16, 2027. Interns are expected to commit to 16 to 24 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Participate in all aspects of long-form media production, from initial story pitches and research to script writing and post-production.
- Shadow and assist editorial staff with daily operations.
- Research and gather media, including archival footage, transcriptions, and logging.
- Pitch new video concepts and series ideas on a monthly basis.
- Contribute to live broadcast production, including coding elements into the rundown, assisting in the control room, and supporting segment production.
- Collaborate with producers to develop research and interview questions for anchors.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program.
- Status as a rising senior undergraduate graduating in Spring 2027.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in video editing software, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, and in-app editing tools.
- A strong passion for news and long-form or documentary storytelling.
- Experience covering news through outlets such as school newspapers or college television stations.
- Ability to multitask and work in a high-volume environment.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for future visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in New York, New York.
- The position operates in a hybrid capacity, with in-office attendance required on a regular cadence determined by the manager.
- This is a paid internship. Undergraduates receive $19 per hour.
