About the role#
The WBD Academic Year (WAY) Internship Program is a six-month opportunity designed for rising seniors to gain professional experience within CNN news operations in Atlanta. This program runs from October 12, 2026, through April 16, 2027. Interns will be considered for various placements, including newsgathering, documentary units, and international news desks.
What you'll do#
- Conduct daily news research and perform diligent fact-checking.
- Shadow and assist editorial staff with daily operations.
- Handle logistics for guest bookings and conduct pre-interviews.
- Attend editorial meetings and support show teams.
- Manage media gathering, including archival footage and tape logging.
- Create clips of interviews following broadcast.
What you'll need#
- Must be an undergraduate student entering your senior year, graduating in Spring 2027, and maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
- Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.
- Strong knowledge of current events and an interest in broadcast or documentary storytelling.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite, specifically Premiere and Photoshop.
- Ability to multitask and work in an organized, detail-oriented manner.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Modality: Hybrid, with regular in-office attendance required based on the manager's schedule.
- Commitment: 16 to 24 hours per week for the full six-month duration.
- Compensation: $19 per hour for undergraduate interns.
- Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship.
