About the role#
Warner Bros. Discovery is offering multiple CNN Newsgathering and Political internship opportunities for Fall 2026 in Washington, DC. These paid, hybrid positions provide students with hands-on experience in a professional news environment. Interns will work 16-24 hours per week between October 12th and December 18th.
What you'll do#
- Conduct background research on the 2026 elections and candidates to produce briefing materials.
- Monitor live political events and write accurate recap notes or stories.
- Perform fact-checking, tape logging, and assist with interviews.
- Track developments in voting and election rules.
- Assist reporters and shows with political research requests and other editorial or production activities.
What you'll need#
- Must be a rising Junior or rising Senior undergraduate student actively enrolled in an accredited degree program.
- Academic good standing with a 3.0 GPA or above.
- Strong interest in news, politics, and current events.
- Preference for candidates pursuing careers in Broadcast Journalism, Media, Communications, Writing, or Research.
- Experience with journalistic newswriting for broadcast or digital platforms.
- Ability to function effectively under deadline pressure.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
