About the role#
CNN News Show Team internships provide students with hands-on experience in news production. These roles are located in Washington, DC, and require regular in-person attendance. Interns work 16 to 24 hours per week over a 10-week period, from October 12th through December 18th, 2026. This is a paid position at $19 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Assist in real-time news coverage by monitoring news sources, gathering information, and verifying facts.
- Conduct research on topics, individuals, and current events to support the editorial process.
- Compile information for use in on-air segments and interviews.
- Participate in editorial meetings, brainstorming sessions, and show production tasks such as preparing scripts, graphics, and video elements.
- Help with logistics for on-location shoots and live broadcasts.
- Contribute to social media presence by creating content and engaging with the audience.
- Collaborate with producers from story inception to the finished package, including potential work in the live control room.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university as a rising Junior or Senior.
- Academic good standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Strong passion for journalism, current events, and news production.
- Proficiency in online research and news-related software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a detail-oriented, high-pressure, and collaborative environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Preferred majors include Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or Media Studies.
