About the role#
CNN News Show Team internships are available for the Fall 2026 term. These roles are based in Washington, DC, and involve working in an on-site capacity. This is a paid, 10-week program running from October 12th to December 18th, requiring 16 to 24 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist in real-time news coverage by monitoring news sources, gathering information, and verifying facts.
- Conduct research on various topics, individuals, and current events to support the editorial process.
- Compile relevant information for use in on-air segments and interviews.
- Participate in editorial meetings, brainstorming sessions, and show production tasks such as preparing scripts, graphics, and video elements.
- Contribute to the show's social media presence through content creation and audience engagement.
- Support logistics for on-location shoots, interviews, and live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Strong passion for journalism and current events, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in conducting online research and using news-related software.
- Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate student (rising Junior or Senior) in an accredited college or university.
- Must maintain an academic standing of 3.0 GPA or above.
- Majors in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or Media Studies are preferred.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
