About the role#
The University of Wyoming Art Museum offers a semester-long, paid curatorial internship for the Gerald and Joyce Lang Print Study Room. Supported by a $3,500 grant, this position provides hands-on experience in research, exhibition development, and collections stewardship. You will work with the museum's permanent collection of over 4,000 prints to curate an upcoming exhibition.
What you'll do#
- Research works from the permanent print collection to identify thematic connections.
- Develop a thematic exhibition concept and select up to 50 works for display.
- Research artists, specific printmaking techniques, and historical context.
- Write interpretive materials and gallery text for the exhibition.
- Assist with exhibition installation and organize prints for display.
- Present a public gallery talk at the conclusion of the internship.
- Participate in exhibition planning meetings and observe object-based teaching sessions.
- Receive training in professional art handling and collections care under curatorial supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Wyoming.
- Coursework in art history, museum studies, studio art, or a related field.
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm for object-based learning.
- Demonstrated interest in prints, printmaking, or works on paper.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
