About the role#
The University of Wyoming Art Museum offers a paid, semester-long curatorial internship focused on the Gerald and Joyce Lang Print Study Room. This position provides hands-on experience in collections stewardship, exhibition development, and curatorial research. Working alongside the museum's curator and exhibitions team, the intern will curate an exhibition by identifying thematic connections within the permanent collection of over 4,000 prints.
What you'll do#
- Research works from the permanent print collection, including artists, printmaking techniques, and historical context.
- Develop a thematic exhibition concept and select up to 50 works for display.
- Write interpretive materials and gallery text for the exhibition.
- Assist with exhibition installation and organize prints for the study room.
- Present a public gallery talk at the conclusion of the internship.
- Participate in exhibition planning meetings and observe object-based teaching sessions.
- Receive training in professional art handling and collections care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Wyoming.
- Coursework in art history, museum studies, studio art, or a related field.
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and an enthusiasm for object-based learning.
- A demonstrated interest in prints, printmaking, or works on paper.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
