About the role#
The Instrument Repair Shop at Ithaca College is seeking student assistants to help manage and maintain the collection of instruments at the Center for Music. You will work both independently and with a team to keep the checkout window running smoothly. This is a paid position offering 5 to 15 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Check band instruments and accessories in and out using the FileMaker database.
- Assign instrument lockers to students.
- Inspect instruments to ensure they are in playable condition.
- Clean and maintain brass, woodwind, and string instruments along with their cases and accessories.
- Manage the inventory of instruments and lockers.
What you'll need#
- General knowledge of brass, woodwind, and string instruments.
- A customer service mindset and the ability to enforce facilities policies.
- Availability to work early mornings starting at 7:30am.
- Familiarity with Windows and FileMaker Pro is helpful but not required.
- Students from the Center for Music are preferred, though all interested students are encouraged to apply.
