    About the role#

    The Darden School of Business is hiring a part-time Distance Learning Support Technician. This role provides technical support for live evening online learning programs, including professional degree distance learning classes. Work occurs Monday through Thursday, between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM. This position is open to current UVA undergraduate and graduate students eligible for employment, including those eligible for Federal Work Study.

    What you'll do#

    • Set up equipment and conduct tests for primary and backup studios.
    • Record and post online classes to the learning management system.
    • Provide live troubleshooting for remote students and faculty instructors.
    • Train faculty through one-on-one sessions.
    • Monitor and update studio and technician hardware and software.
    • Identify and suggest technologies to improve infrastructure efficiency.

    What you'll need#

    • Experience supporting A/V equipment and online conferencing software.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and Mac operating systems.
    • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to teach technical features to non-technical users.
    • Ability to manage multiple tech support conversations at once.
    • Capacity to learn and implement new technology processes quickly.
    • Current enrollment as a UVA student.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Pay: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, based on experience.
    • Status: Part-time, rolling term.
