About the role#
The MESA Program at Sac State is hiring seven student assistants to serve as peer mentors. Mentors provide one-on-one support, guidance, and motivation to new MESA students. You will share your own experiences and help students navigate their academic, personal, and professional goals. This is an internal position for current MESA Program students only.
What you'll do#
- Meet with mentees individually throughout the semester.
- Prepare for mentoring sessions by building curriculum and brainstorming strategies.
- Assist with content creation for the program.
- Help run workshops and events during the semester.
- Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current Sac State student enrolled in at least six semester units (undergraduate) or four semester units (graduate).
- Must be an active MESA Program student.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of MESA Program services and activities.
- Majors accepted include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday. You may work up to 8 hours per week.
- Status: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
