About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring three student assistants to support the Hazardous Waste Management Plan Unit. You will help implement recommendations from the 2026 Hazardous Waste Management Plan and address data gaps identified in the 2023 Hazardous Waste Management Report. This is a part-time, temporary role focused on protecting California communities and the environment.
What you'll do#
- Research and collect data regarding communities located near hazardous waste generators and destination facilities.
- Use tools like ArcGIS, zoning maps, and land use categories to perform geographic analysis.
- Incorporate hazardous waste generator information into your analysis to address public comments and report recommendations.
- Identify and evaluate recurring hazardous waste streams to focus on consistent generation patterns.
- Select and analyze specific generators that produce recurring waste to provide targeted insights.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain minimum unit requirements for student classification throughout your employment.
- A declared major in Data Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or Urban Planning.

- This position is located in Sacramento, California.
- Work is performed on-site at the office.
- This is a non-benefited, part-time position.
- You must reside and work in the state of California for the duration of your employment.
