About the role#
The Digital Transformation Office at the California Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a student assistant to support AI and automation efforts. You will work on projects involving Python, SQL, and version control tools like Git. This is a part-time position with a hybrid work schedule based at the DMV headquarters in Sacramento.
What you'll do#
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of AI and automation solutions.
- Assist with AI prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and Generative AI features.
- Create and maintain automation workflows and scripts to improve business processes.
- Perform software testing, including regression and user acceptance testing.
- Maintain code repositories and attend Agile development meetings.
- Contribute to technical documentation and metric reporting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Minimum enrollment of six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates.
- Major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of web development concepts like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with data analysis principles.
- Ability to learn new software tools quickly.
- Experience with Python or SQL is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AI, machine learning, or cloud technologies is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $16.90 to $22.70 per hour.
- Schedule: Generally up to 24 hours per week during the academic year, with flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
