The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) is seeking to hire a student assistant to support Pension2 Training and Outreach for the Defined Contribution Programs in the Retirement Readiness division. The student assistant will assist the Pension2 unit with training and outreach materials as well as providing outstanding customer service to CalSTRS customers via telephone and online communications.
Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Monday – Friday, preferably between 8 AM – 5 PM. Work onsite days are Tuesday & Wednesday. Telework days are Monday, Thursday and Friday. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor based on student's availabilty. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer). Compensation $18.27 to 21.00 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Ability to interact professionally and effectively with others.Ability to exercise tact, professionalism, and sound judgment when interacting with staff at all levels and the public.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Must be available to work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Duties and Responsibilities Ability to review and interpret data analysis to ensure completeness of member information. Prepare outreach and presentation materials. Partner with subject matter experts to ensure quality control and review of work. Respond verbally and in writing to members as applicable. Prepare correspondence while adhering to high standards of written communication set by the CalSTRS Style Guide. Review and analyze member information, member records and resource materials as appropriate to complete inquiries.Collaborate with other teams within Retirement Readiness / Defined Contribution Program. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hybrid environment. The office location is 200 Waterfront Place, West Sacramento, CA 95605. The schedule will require the student to be available to work on site Tuesday and Wednesday and telework the remaining days of the week. Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.
