About the role#
The Digital Transformation Office at the California Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a Student Assistant to support AI and automation projects. You will work with technologies like Python, SQL, and Git to build and test new tools. This is a part-time, hybrid position based at the DMV headquarters in Sacramento.
What you'll do#
- Build, test, and implement AI and automation solutions.
- Create prototypes and proof-of-concepts for Generative AI features.
- Develop scripts and workflows to improve business processes.
- Assist with the development and testing of chatbots.
- Perform software testing including regression and user acceptance testing.
- Support API testing and system integration.
- Maintain code repositories and contribute to technical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum enrollment of six semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Basic knowledge of web development concepts like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with data analysis principles.
- A desire to learn new software tools quickly.
- Preferred experience includes Python, SQL, automation scripting, and Git.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Sacramento, California.
- The schedule is hybrid, with specific hours determined by your supervisor.
- You must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
- Work hours are typically Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM.
