About the role#
The Office of Water Programs is looking for a student to join our design team in Sacramento. You will support a variety of projects, ranging from technical infographics to visual identity development. This is a part-time, on-site position that offers the chance to work alongside engineers and researchers.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers, developers, and project staff to turn concepts into finished figures, infographics, and visualizations.
- Assist the design team through all stages of projects, from initial concept to production.
- Create schematics, charts, graphs, and other vector graphics for reports and presentations.
- Design multi-page layouts for newsletters, publications, and forms.
- Develop visual identities and special marks for both internal and external clients.
- Capture photos and video, and handle post-production or retouching as needed.
- Learn to work with front-end code to develop user interfaces.
- Troubleshoot design problems and adjust to changing project priorities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a Graphic Design or Design Studies student at an accredited college or university.
- A minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite to produce camera-ready artwork.
- Working knowledge of the Windows platform and MS Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to tasks.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly and professionally.
- Dependability regarding work attendance and a consistent weekly schedule.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
- Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. Students typically work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
