About the role#
This is a part-time, student assistant position at the California Department of Transportation. You will work under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer in the Office of Geotechnical Design Policy and Practice. This role focuses on learning and development within a professional engineering environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the continued development of a pile driving smartphone application and sensing hardware.
- Develop smartphone and computer applications, including web-based data entry and retrieval interfaces.
- Assist with the development of geotechnical databases and geotechnical engineering applications.
- Support the development of project management systems.
What you'll need#
- You must be a college student attending classes at an accredited university.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Majors in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and React.
- Ability to program embedded systems, including ESP32 and Raspberry Pi Pico microcontrollers.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Sacramento, California.
- Work is performed on-site in an office or field environment.
- You must reside in California, as all work must be performed within the state.
- The schedule is flexible between Monday and Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a maximum of 24 hours per week during the academic year.
