About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring an Intern for the Winter 2027 term in Detroit, Michigan. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position. You will work under supervision to support construction project development, gaining exposure to project management, safety protocols, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the project team with daily tasks including file management, document control, meeting coordination, and progress reporting.
- Apply your academic knowledge to real-world construction activities.
- Comply with all site safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Assist with project start-up, close-out, and the collection of information for submittals and RFIs.
- Communicate with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, estimates for changes in work, and track project schedules.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Participate in training, meetings, and orientation sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program, such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or Architecture.
- Completion of at least one year of education.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- A strong desire to work in construction management.
- Ability to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to work independently or in a team.
