About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Columbus, Ohio. You will support safety and loss control activities at a construction project or office location under the direction of your supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, specifically focusing on potential dangers to life or property.
- Coordinate training for safety meetings, orientations, and tool box meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company policies and compliance standards.
- Conduct inspections of the jobsite and work areas, then develop summaries of your findings.
- Maintain safety records, including training logs, chemical inventories, and OSHA 300 logs.
- Assist with the administration of the drug screening program and worker orientation sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Civil, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering.
- An understanding of construction safety procedures.
- Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local safety regulations.
- The ability to assist with the implementation of safety programs.
