About the role#
The Community Relations Intern supports initiatives that grow the organization’s presence in the community. You will gain exposure to community engagement, event planning, foundation support, and daily operations within a professional sports environment. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role based in Houston.
What you'll do#
- Provide support for game days, events, community partnerships, and foundation activities.
- Manage the fan mail program and ensure prompt responses to requests.
- Maintain department databases and merchandise inventory files.
- Handle office tasks such as data entry, answering phones, copying, filing, and managing mailing lists.
- Assist with GiveBack and 50/50 fundraising efforts, including equipment setup, cash handling, and reporting.
- Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community relations programs.
- Provide administrative support to the Community Relations Director and the Clutch City Foundation.
- Participate in receptionist training and other special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current college student or recent college graduate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, plus familiarity with Outlook and Access.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work long hours, nights, and weekends, including home games.
- Experience with nonprofit organizations, charitable events, or community leaders is preferred.
- Genuine interest in working with people.
Location & details#
- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Schedule: Rolling term, on-site, full-time.
- Physical requirements: You must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach, and move items as needed for departmental operations.
About Toyota Center
Toyota Center is a live entertainment venue located in Houston, Texas. It opened in 2003 and spans six city blocks. The facility serves as the home arena for the Houston Rockets and hosts various concerts, sports events, and performances. A renovation project is currently in progress with an expected completion date in 2027.
