About the role#
The Town of Caledon is hiring a Student, Engineering GIS for the Winter and Summer 2027 terms. This full-time role reports to the Supervisor of Data and Applications. You will provide GIS and application support to internal staff while working in a hybrid capacity.
What you'll do#
- Act as the first point of contact for Engineering staff regarding GIS updates and queries via phone and email.
- Create maps and develop web maps and applications.
- Update and maintain core GIS datasets.
- Troubleshoot basic GIS problems, including map updates.
- Manage project and asset updates received from internal Engineering teams.
- Update existing documentation for GIS processes and create new documentation where needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Civil Engineering, Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Up to 3 years of experience with GIS tools and technologies.
- Experience with ESRI software, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Survey123, Field Maps, ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Server, FME, ArcSDE, Spatial Analyst, Model Builder, Geocortex, and Python.
- Experience editing and maintaining spatial data.
- Knowledge of civil infrastructure or water resource management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions on routine tasks within established procedures.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check.
