About the role#
This position reports to the Supervisor, Data and Applications. You will provide first line technical GIS support to internal staff and manage hardware deployments. This includes physically removing and installing computers at primary and remote sites, which may require occasional weekend work. This is a full-time, paid student role for the Spring and Fall 2026 terms, running from May 2026 through December 2026.
What you'll do#
- Act as the primary contact for staff via phone and email regarding GIS queries.
- Receive, log, and manage internal support calls, escalating complex issues to the GIS team.
- Troubleshoot GIS problems and map updates through remote and in-person support.
- Maintain and update existing GIS process documentation.
- Collaborate with IT staff to create new documentation for GIS workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program for Information Technology, Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Up to 3 years of experience with GIS tools and ESRI software products.
- Experience editing and maintaining spatial data, with versioned editing experience considered an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of hardware including laptops, PCs, printers, and iPhones, as well as Windows systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Ability to make decisions on routine tasks within established procedures.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check and proof of qualifications.

- Location: Caledon, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $21.18 to $26.48 per hour based on a 35-hour work week.
