About the role#
The Medical Imaging Intern supports the daily operations of the imaging department at Watts Healthcare Center. This role provides hands-on exposure to healthcare technology, diagnostic imaging workflows, and patient support services. Interns work alongside experienced staff to learn about career paths in radiology and healthcare administration while developing professional workplace skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with organizing materials, resources, and administrative documents.
- Welcome patients and visitors to the department and provide general information to families.
- Help manage patient flow by directing individuals to the correct waiting areas.
- Support data entry, filing systems, and record management through scanning and copying.
- Observe diagnostic imaging workflows and the use of healthcare technology.
- Follow all department safety protocols and maintain patient privacy standards.
- Participate in career readiness activities and professional development discussions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Compton Unified School District, preferably as a Sophomore or Junior.
- Interest in healthcare, science, biotechnology, or public health.
- Preference for students in or entering a CTE pathway.
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well with peers and staff.
- Required health documentation: CPR Certification, TB clearance, and specific immune titers (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
- Required immunization records: Tdap, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza.
