About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience at the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority. You will work with operators and environmental staff to learn about treatment processes, water sampling, and system monitoring. This position is open only to students enrolled in a Charter School in the High Desert.
What you'll do#
- Collect water and sludge samples with the water quality team.
- Prepare equipment and log data for lab testing and compliance reports.
- Compile logs and inspection data to observe operational trends.
- Prepare checklists for operators.
- Record totalizer and sludge blanket data to assist with compliance and system decisions.
- Shadow maintenance tasks and help keep the workspace organized.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Charter School in the High Desert.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Valid Right to Work documents.
- Interest in environmental science, engineering, or water systems.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Location & details#
- Location: Victorville, California.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 21 to November 13, 2026).
- Schedule: 100 hours total, 2 days per week.
- Status: Paid internship.
- College credit is available through a Victor Valley College Work Experience course.
