About the role#
The Information Technology (IT) Intern will work with the IT department at Watts Healthcare Center. This program provides students with hands-on experience in a professional healthcare setting. You will assist with technical support, inventory management, and administrative projects while learning how technology systems support healthcare operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with organizing computers, peripherals, and technology equipment.
- Help prepare equipment for deployment and distribution.
- Support basic technology setup activities and observe troubleshooting processes.
- Track technology inventory, perform audits, and maintain equipment records.
- Organize storage areas and label technology assets.
- Assist with filing, scanning, and data entry for technology documentation.
- Prepare materials for meetings, trainings, and projects.
- Learn basic cybersecurity concepts and participate in discussions on data security.
- Observe how healthcare organizations protect systems and information.
- Participate in career readiness activities and explore educational pathways in technology.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Compton Unified School District, preferably as a Junior or Senior.
- Preference for students in or entering a CTE pathway.
- Interest in careers related to healthcare, science, networking, computer science, game design, or IT.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, along with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and peers.
- Demonstrated responsibility, professionalism, and dependability.
- Required health documentation: CPR certification, current TB clearance, and specific immune titers (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
- Required immunization records: Tdap, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza.

- Compensation: $17.87 per hour.
- Duration: Approximately 108 hours during Summer 2026.
