    About the role#

    Tokyo Electron US is seeking a Software Engineer intern for our AI Research team in San Jose. This role is based within our Silicon Valley AI lab, where we conduct long-term research and technology development in AI and machine learning for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will join a team that values the free exchange of ideas and collaborative innovation.

    What you'll do#

    • Drive the development of assigned research tasks.
    • Research and propose solutions to specific technical topics.
    • Translate ideas into code using both existing and new codebases.
    • Share research insights and findings with the team to contribute to our collective knowledge.
    • Apply Lean principles and continuous improvement methods to your project work.

    What you'll need#

    • Proficiency in Python or C/C++.
    • Ability to read and modify existing codebases.
    • High proficiency in algorithmic thinking and software development.
    • Familiarity with current AI approaches and research.
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical deliverables.
    • A creative, curious mindset and a willingness to solve problems.
    • Ability to work well in a team and across cultural barriers.
    • Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering program. Graduate level (M.S. or Ph.D.) is preferred, though rising Junior or Senior level Bachelor’s students will be considered.

    • Term: Summer 2027 (May 17th through August 20th, 2027).
    • Modality: This is a full-time, on-site internship.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position.
