About the role#
Walt Disney Imagineering designs and builds Disney theme parks, resorts, and attractions. This internship places you within the creative team responsible for the special effects that bring these experiences to life. You will work on-site in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from January 2027 to June 2027.
What you'll do#
You will support the design, production, and installation of special effects for attractions. Your daily work includes:
- Assisting the Special Effects lead during the concept and design stages.
- Preparing and delivering documentation to define project scope.
- Collaborating with teams to ensure all technical and creative requirements are met.
- Helping with field installation, testing, and adjustments.
- Providing assistance for maintenance and operations training.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a Junior or higher in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Art, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Physics, or Media Studies.
- Basic knowledge of special effects and related technical fields like optics and mechanics.
- Familiarity with projection equipment, materials, and processes.
- Proficiency in Solidworks.
- Ability to form and track project plans to meet specific goals.

- Location: Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through June).
- Employment type: Full time.
- Compensation: $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate students.
- Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old and possess unrestricted work authorization.
