About the role#
Walt Disney Imagineering seeks a Mechanical Design and Production Intern to support the creation of special effects, animatronics, and show action equipment. This role is a full-time, paid internship based in Celebration, FL, running from January 2027 to June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the mechanical design, fabrication, and assembly of complex systems.
- Participate in design reviews, documentation, and drawing creation to meet creative standards.
- Collaborate with Quality Control and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Build prototypes, support integrations, and suggest process improvements.
- Use CAD software to contribute to project goals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a junior or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with machining, welding, and mechanical assembly.
- Ability to read technical drawings and use measurement instruments.
- Experience with fabrication tools from school, club, or industry projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work on-site and maintain full availability for the duration of the term.
- Preferred experience includes Airtable, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing.

- Compensation: $26.50 per hour for undergraduates and $27.50 per hour for graduate students.
