About the role#
The 7 On Your Side unit at WABC-TV focuses on consumer advocacy, producing content for both broadcast and digital platforms. This internship is a part-time commitment of 24 hours per week, running from January 2027 through June 2027. You will work on-site in New York, New York.
What you'll do#
- Pre-interview viewers and guests to determine if a story is a fit for the unit.
- Pitch potential stories to the producer.
- Manage viewer documentation and maintain ongoing project relationships.
- Provide customer service to viewers seeking assistance.
- Shadow reporter Nina Pineda on shoots to learn on-camera techniques and practice sample stand-ups.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated interest in journalism, television news, or multimedia storytelling through coursework, student media, or previous internships.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and communicate professionally via phone and email.
- Experience with broadcast production, news script writing, or AP Style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically OneDrive file-sharing.
- Experience creating social media content using mobile or web-based editing tools.
- Must be at least 18 years old with unrestricted work authorization.
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, or current participation in a Disney internship program.
- A portfolio is required for this role and must be linked on your resume.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Schedule: 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $22.50 per hour.
- You must provide your own housing and transportation.
