About the role#
This is a full-time internship based in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, running from January 2027 through June 2027. You will join the Walt Disney Imagineering team to support the design, production, and installation of special effects for theme park attractions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the mock-up, design, production, installation, and testing of special effects.
- Support the project team from the initial concept stage through to final close-out.
- Produce, install, maintain, and repair theme park special effects equipment under the direction of lead designers.
- Collaborate with coordinated teams to ensure all internal and external project requirements are met.
- Provide assistance with maintenance and operations training, as well as post-turnover support.
- Prepare documentation to define the scope of special effects projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Solidworks.
- Basic knowledge of the special effects currently installed at Disney theme park attractions.
- Understanding of special effects and projection equipment, materials, and processes.
- General knowledge of related technical fields, including optics and mechanics.
- Ability to form a plan and track progress to meet project goals.
- Unrestricted work authorization.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January to June).

- Compensation: $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate students.
