About the role#
The AI Living Lab Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the laboratory. This role involves working across hydroponic systems, aquaponic setups, reptile habitats, and general lab spaces. You will assist with tasks that keep the lab running for adult visitors and scheduled appointments. This is an on-site position for college students.
What you'll do#
- Prepare workstations and demonstration areas for visitors.
- Maintain plant health and support hydroponic and aquaponic systems.
- Perform water-quality testing and basic lab tasks.
- Provide care for reptiles and maintain their habitats.
- Document lab activities through photos, videos, and written records.
- Organize and clean lab equipment and workspaces.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of community events and workshops.
- Help visitors understand the lab and its activities.
- Monitor supplies and report equipment needs to the Lab Director.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student.
- A valid Work-Study Award.
- Interest in fields such as AI, agriculture, science, technology, or environmental science.
- Ability to follow safety procedures for lab operations and animal care.
- Majors in Computer Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, or Media Studies are preferred.
