About the role#
This internship supports the Analytical Research Group. You will focus on the Flash Chromatography of asphalt and perform comparison analysis with SARA. Your primary project goal is to build a mathematical model to predict traditional SARA fraction analysis using Flash Chromatography. This work helps determine how asphalt fractions change due to oxidation and UV damage, providing insight into rejuvenation and coating products.

- Perform Flash Chromatography and SARA analysis.
- Develop a mathematical model for fraction prediction.
- Document all testing activities in a lab notebook.

What you'll need#
- Current sophomore or junior status in chemistry or material science.
- Two semesters each of General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Quantitative/Instrumental Analysis, including associated laboratory work.
- Understanding and implementation of safe laboratory practices.
- Basic computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Physical requirements: Must be able to stand for 2 to 3 hours daily and lift up to 20 lbs overhead.
- Safety: Proper Personal Protective Equipment is required at all times in the laboratory.
