About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship based in Nauvoo, Illinois. You will work alongside a professional arborist to care for trees at the Nauvoo Historic Sites. The role involves hands-on tasks to preserve the natural grounds. You will gain experience in daily arboriculture work while contributing to the stewardship of these locations. This position lasts between 4 and 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Perform pruning in landscaped and forested areas.
- Conduct trail maintenance and control invasive species.
- Operate chainsaws and other related tools.
- Assist with routine cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings.
- Receive and complete assignments from the staff arborist.
- Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with staff, missionaries, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an educational institution or graduation within the past year.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
- Capability to obtain a sound judgment of Church doctrine, history, organization, policy, and protocol.
- Willingness to sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in harmony with others.
