About the role#
The Texas Farm Bureau is hiring a Legislative Intern to work within the Government Affairs team at our Austin office. This position runs during the 2027 Regular Session of the Texas Legislature. You will support legislative initiatives that benefit farmers, ranchers, and rural communities while gaining experience in the state legislative process. This role also involves supporting the Texas Agriculture Council with meeting coordination and advocacy efforts.
What you'll do#
- Research legislative and policy issues that affect the future of Texas agriculture.
- Monitor committee hearings, legislative meetings, and policy developments at the Texas Capitol.
- Write bill summaries, policy briefs, and legislative communications.
- Create briefing materials, presentations, and advocacy resources for legislators and stakeholders.
- Use tracking tools and databases to provide updates and support advocacy.
- Coordinate logistics and materials for weekly Texas Agriculture Council meetings.
- Schedule guest speakers and maintain bill tracking reports.
- Promote agricultural priorities among legislators and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student or recent graduate status.
- Availability to be in Austin, Texas from January 12, 2027, to June 4, 2027.
- Practical knowledge of production agriculture and rural issues.
- Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Interest in public policy areas such as agriculture, property rights, water policy, and environmental regulations.
- Ability and willingness to learn and grow your professional skills.

- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 (January 12, 2027 - June 4, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid, full-time position.
