About the role#
As an Equipment Engineer within the Terafab team, you will manage the procurement, installation, qualification, and performance of advanced semiconductor process tools. You will work across logic, memory, packaging, test, and in-house mask shop domains to ensure the reliability and uptime of the factory.
What you'll do#
- Support semiconductor process equipment from initial vendor selection through installation and production support.
- Manage tool installation projects, including utility hookup sequencing and readiness milestones.
- Partner with OEM vendors to evaluate equipment architecture, assess mechanical risk, and drive design improvements.
- Develop and execute equipment qualification plans, including tool-to-tool matching and performance baselines.
- Establish preventative maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, and equipment uptime KPIs.
- Apply mechanical and electromechanical design knowledge to identify root causes of issues and drive systematic availability improvements.
- Design equipment upgrades and collaborate with internal teams to execute them.
- Work with Process and Automation Engineers to diagnose and resolve equipment-related process excursions and yield impacts.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with machining equipment, automation systems, and controls.
- Understanding of semiconductor equipment systems, such as vacuum, gas delivery, RF plasma, temperature control, and recipe management.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and OEM design documentation.
- Capability to engage vendors at a design level to evaluate modifications and assess mechanical risk.
- An open mindset to apply technical knowledge to equipment monitoring, hardware optimization, and installation.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Austin, Texas.
- The position is on-site and full-time (40 hours per week).
- Terms available: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
