About the role#
Tesla is looking for software engineering interns to build the cloud services that support our energy products. This team manages platforms for Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder, and Virtual Power Plants. You will work with distributed systems, streaming data, and functional programming using tools like Scala, Akka, Reactive Streams, InfluxDB, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and maintain distributed software systems that use real-time streaming data to monitor and control IoT devices.
- Test software systems for performance, scalability, and reliability, including building the services required to support this testing.
- Characterize complex issues regarding the security, performance, and reliability of production systems.
- Provide technical leadership and drive projects to completion.
- Maintain team values of engineering excellence, curiosity, self awareness, inclusivity, and a bias for action.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong interest in the availability, scalability, and security of distributed software systems.
- You enjoy thinking in systems.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Palo Alto, California.
- The internship is full-time at 40 hours per week.
- Terms are available for Winter 2027 and Summer 2027, with a minimum commitment of 12 weeks.
