About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives within our manufacturing operations. You will work on-site in Columbus, Indiana, during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the application and use of engineering controls to reduce site risks.
- Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and work practices.
- Develop basic hazard control designs, methods, and programs.
- Administer and communicate active hazard control programs.
- Interpret internal and external standards to support compliance and hazard reduction.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Preferred majors include Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, as well as Supply Chain Management, Economics, or Statistics.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.
- Current residency within the continental U.S.
- Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety, including general industry standards.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, personal protective equipment, behavior-based safety, machine safety, and confined space entry.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and OSHA record keeping.
- Ability to perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, and 5-why analysis.
- A willingness to learn from others on the job.
