About the role#
As a Customer & Field Quality Engineer Intern, you will work on the performance and quality of 4680 cells. You will bridge the gap between manufacturing and end-use applications, ensuring that technical challenges are identified, investigated, and resolved. This role requires a data-driven mindset and the ability to collaborate with reliability and engineering teams to improve product outcomes.
What you'll do#
- Gather data on 4680 cell performance by interfacing with downstream customers, vehicle teams, and field operations.
- Support containment processes for potential issues and track corrective actions to ensure they do not reoccur.
- Investigate quality improvement opportunities and quantify their potential impact.
- Use data to translate technical challenges into actionable tasks for engineering teams.
- Track key performance indicators for fleet performance across in-house cell manufacturing.
- Conduct risk assessments at the product and manufacturing levels to drive mitigation strategies.
- Work with reliability engineering teams to implement findings from field data, lifetime testing, and abuse engineering.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Materials engineering.
- Coursework or project experience in quality, reliability, or manufacturing.
- Ability to analyze data sets and draw conclusions using tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau, MATLAB, or JMP.
- Familiarity with quality problem-solving methods like Six Sigma, 8D, or root cause analysis.
- Experience with statistical analysis, including AQL, process capability, or SPC.
- Strong communication skills to present findings and work across teams.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Interest in lithium-ion cells or high-volume manufacturing.
