About the role#
As a member of the Charging Data Modeling team, you will build models and algorithms that support the deployment and operation of charging infrastructure. This work shapes the charging experience for customers while building the foundation for autonomous fleets. You will design next-generation fleet orchestration algorithms and use simulation environments to test and refine these strategies at scale.
What you'll do#
- Use statistical analysis and large-scale data to extract insights on fleet usage, charging trends, and customer behavior.
- Improve data-driven decision making through modeling and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Inform the planning, siting, and optimization of EV charging infrastructure.
- Design, prototype, and productionize algorithms for UI features and pricing signals.
- Develop charging-aware fleet orchestration algorithms to determine when and where vehicles charge.
- Contribute to the robotaxi simulation platform to stress-test algorithms and validate results against real fleet data.
- Predict energy consumption and recommend optimal charging locations.
- Build reliable data tools and pipelines to support modeling systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to turn analytical insights into product and operational decisions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Management, or Engineering.
- Graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Strong programming skills with a foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- Proficiency in data analysis and modeling using Python.
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Background in machine learning using supervised and unsupervised models.
- Experience with time-series or geospatial datasets.
- Knowledge of experiment design and causal inference methods.
- Experience with Spark, Hadoop, or streaming data.
- Background in optimization techniques applied to fleet, logistics, or energy problems.
- Experience applying machine learning or optimization to real-world infrastructure or simulation problems.
- Quantitative projects available online such as GitHub repositories, blog posts, or papers.
- Proficiency in Golang is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $50.06 - $58.89 per hour plus benefits.
